Why Home Staging Matters
Staging a home is very important in order to have the photos look as good as possible. The better the photos look, the more interest your property will receive from possible buyers.
Best Practices
- Use a "Less is More" mindset when deciding whether or not to hide things away
- Always reduce clutter as much as possible
- Pack away things you don't use and put them in a closet/storage space
General Interior
Declutter all floors and clean them (vacuum carpets, wash floors)
Declutter all tables and clean them (kitchen, dining room, coffee tables, side tables, etc)
Declutter and clean all mantles, display cases, book shelves, etc.
Turn on all the lights and replace bulbs if necessary
Open all the curtains and blinds
Clean the windows if necessary
Remove all pet items (food/water bowls, toys, etc)
Kitchen
Remove 90% of items from the counter tops (Utensils, blenders, dishes, etc)
Remove all magnets, photos, and anything else that's on your refrigerator and clean it
Clean the stove top thoroughly
Have kitchen sink open and clean
Hide soap, sponges, paper towels, and other cleaning supplies
Bedrooms
Make bed with best available bedding
Hide all chargers and wires
Hide all personal hygiene items
Bathrooms
Remove toothbrushes, toothpaste, and other personal hygiene items from sink area
Remove all items from inside shower/tub
General Exterior
Mow the lawn at least a few days before
Sweep/rake all walkways, decks, seating areas, etc
Make sure plants are trimmed and dead plants are removed
Hide garbage cans if possible
Remove all cars from driveway
